The technology giant, Microsoft, announced, on Tuesday, its
intention to permanently stop technical support for the “Internet
Explorer 11” browser (the latest version of the browser),
on August 17, 2021.
The company clarified in its official blog that the process of
stopping technical support for the famous browser will start on
November 30th, but it will continue for some time across a
group of “365” applications (including Microsoft Office) until
August 17 of next year, so that the technical support process
will be permanently stopped at that time.
The browser “Internet Explorer” appeared for the first time in
1995 with the introduction of the operating system “Windows
95”, and was able to achieve great success during the first years
of its appearance, according to the site “The Verge” specialized.
However, with the emergence of many competitors, Internet
Explorer usage rates have decreased from approximately 50%
to only 4% at the present time, noting that Google Chrome
currently dominates the world of browsers with a usage rate
of more than 71%, according to figures from specialized institutions.
It is noteworthy that the year 2002 was the golden year of the
browser “Internet Explorer”, with a usage rate of approximately 95%.
Microsoft is currently seeking to restore its place in the world of
browsers through the browser “Edge”, which appeared for the
first time in 2015.
