After a loan that started early this season, Paris Saint-Germain
announced the French League title, on Sunday, including
Argentine striker Mauro Icardi for four seasons.
Icardi joined the Saint-Germans on loan for a season and
performed surprisingly, scoring 20 goals in 31 games, until the
French league season stopped due to the Corona pandemic.
Paris Saint-Germain did the option to purchase the 27-year-old,
and awarded him a contract that runs until June 2024.
No financial details were announced for the contract, but Italian
media said that the player’s transfer contract cost 50 million
euros (about 55 million dollars), with additional bonuses.
The French league stopped with the postponement of 10 games
after the government called for the suspension of local sports
competitions at the end of last April.
Icardi had scored 124 goals in 219 games for Inter Milan, but
his charm has dissipated amid a bitter decline in performance
due to problems with the club’s management.
Icardi has avoided taking part in matches in recent months with
Inter Milan, due to his and his wife’s request, Wanda Nara, to
amend his wages.
