The Chinese company “Huawei” surpassed the South Korean
Samsung Group after it achieved the highest sales of smart
phones in the world during the second quarter of the year,
according to the “Canalis” research group.
Canales said the company, which faces US sanctions, shipped
55.8 million phones, bypassing Samsung, which had sales
of 53.7 million units, knowing that this superiority was recorded
for the first time.
The research group pointed out that the US sanctions affected
Huawei’s sales outside China, but saw an increase in the domestic market.
Analyst at “Canalis” Mujia warned that the sales force in China
only “will not be enough to keep Huawei in first place when
the global economy begins to recover,” according to “AFP.”
Huawei has become a major issue in the “geopolitical” dispute
between Beijing and Washington, which says the company
poses a major threat to information security.
The United States also requested that Huawei’s chief financial
officer, Ming Wanzhou, be extradited on charges of fraud,
which further harmed relations between China and Canada,
where she was under house arrest.
