Arsenal continued to suffer and lost 4-1 at home to defending champions Manchester City,
to be knocked out of the quarter-finals of the League of English Professional Football Clubs Cup, Tuesday.
Manchester City, who won the competition title in the last three seasons, led with a header by Brazilian striker
Gabriel Jesus in the third minute.
Michael Arteta’s side equalized with another Alexandre Lacazette header in the 31st minute, but City dominated
the match after the break.
Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Runarsson made a mistake in dealing with a free kick by Riyad Mahrez, to make City lead
in the 2-1 minute.
Phil Foden and Emeric LaPorte added two additional goals for Pep Guardiola’s team, to continue the suffering
of Arsenal, who is in the 15th place in the Premier League, only four points behind the relegation zone.
