Australia book penultimate World Cup ticket by defeating Peru
Australia, the fifth Asian qualifier, booked the 31st penultimate card to qualify for the World Cup
in Qatar at the end of this year, by defeating Peru, the fifth South American qualifier, on penalties,
5-4, after the end of the original and extra time in a goalless draw, Monday, at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium
in Doha is an international annex.
Australia, ranked 42 in the world, owes its fourth consecutive qualification and sixth in its history after
its first participation in the 1974 World Cup and reaching the second round in 2006, to its substitute
goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, who saved the decisive sixth penalty shootout by Alex Valera.
This is the sixth time that Australia has reached the World Finals, and in Qatar it will join the teams of
Group D consisting of defending champion France, Denmark and Tunisia.
And Australia coach Graham Arnold Bridmayne paid in the first minute of added time of the second overtime
period instead of Real Sociedad goalkeeper Matthew Ryan.
Redmayne confused the Peruvian players with his movements on the goal line right and left, and the right
post helped him to take the third kick, which taken by Argentine Boca Juniors defender Luis Advincula,
before he blocked the sixth kick.
Australia began the penalty shootout by wasting the first kick through Saudi Al-Faisali midfielder Martin Boyle,
who was one of the best players in the match.
Australia beat the UAE 2-1 Tuesday in Doha in the playoff to determine the fifth Asian continent.

the Oceania champion, on the same stadium.
Since The winner of this match will join Group E with Spain, Germany and Japan, in the tournament
scheduled from November 21 to December 18 in Qatar.
