Barcelona announced, Wednesday, that the test results showed
that a player in its ranks infected with the new Corona
virus, who had not mixed with the team that would go to Lisbon
to play a match against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of
the European Champions League.
The Catalan club said in a statement, “After the Corona virus
tests that conducted Tuesday afternoon on a group of
9 players scheduled to start the preparatory season today, one
of them appeared to be positive with the Covid-19 virus.”
Barcelona confirmed, “The player did not mix with any of
the first team players, who scheduled to travel to Lisbon on
Thursday to participate in the Champions League.”
Barcelona will play in the quarter-finals against Bayern Munich,
on Friday, in Lisbon after the Confederation of the
Confederation (Wifa) introduced an amendment to the
tournament system in its current version, where its final rounds
held in Portugal behind closed doors, and the quarter-final
and semi-final matches will be one match instead of From a
round trip, due to the repercussions of the spread of “Covid-19”.
Barcelona did not announce the name of its injured player,
noting that “he has no symptoms, and he is in good health and
quarantined at his home.”
The Champions League title became the last opportunity for
Barcelona, after his opponent Real Madrid won the domestic
league title and deposited the Copa del Rey in the quarter-finals.
