Spanish club Barcelona coach Kiki Sittin revealed that
he was about to train in Egypt days before the Blaugrana
announced his appointment as technical director of the
team.
“A few days before I took over as Barcelona coach,
I was about to move to train in Egypt,” Sittin said in
comments reported by the Spanish newspaper “Marca”.
“The Barcelona call changed my course. I was
ready to train the team, even if for free.”
Kiki Sitten took over as Barcelona coach on January 13,
succeeding Spain’s Ernesto Valverde, who was sacked.
Barca leads the La Liga table with 58 points, two points
behind second-placed Real Madrid before the
competition was stopped due to an outbreak of the
Coronavirus in the world.
And about being the third or fourth option for Barcelona?
Sittin replied: “No. I am humble, but at the same time I
value myself well.”
On his time with Barcelona, he explained, “I would like
to say that there were times when we played very well,
but we lacked continuity.”
