Barcelona is preparing a plan for Messi return… and offers many temptations
According to sports reports, Barcelona is still seeking the return of Argentine
star Lionel Messi to its ranks, taking into account several options.
And according to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”, the main problem for
Messi’s return to Barcelona is the deterioration of the relationship between
the “flea” and the president of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta, after the Argentine
star moved to Paris Saint-Germain.
There are conflicting reports about the relationship between Laporta and Messi,
as sources said that it began to return to normal, after a phone message between
the two, but no meeting took place, while others denied the existence of contacts
between the two parties.
“Marca” expected that Messi’s return to the Blaugrana would be by organizing
a ceremony in honor of him, in addition to making him an ambassador for the club,
and proposing an offer of a “consultant position” or a “technical secretary”
cooperating with the sports director.
According to the newspaper, Barcelona could also tempt Messi to return to
Camp Nou after agreeing to any financial conditions proposed by the player,
which will cost the Spanish club large sums.
“Marca” cited signs that it considered as an indication of the possibility of Messi’s
return to Barcelona, such as not selling his house in “Castle Devils” in Spain,
and visiting him from time to time, in addition to rumors that the Argentine
was unhappy in playing the French league.
On Thursday, the daily newspaper “El Mundo” published information regarding
the terms of Messi’s contract renewal in 2020, which ultimately did not bear fruit.
And the newspaper pointed out that Messi, in order to continue playing with
Barcelona until after the end of his contract, which was to expire in June 2021,
was ready, in 2020 in the midst of the spread of the “Covid-19” epidemic, to accept
a 20% salary reduction, but asked to recover it within the two years. He demanded
a reward of 10 million euros for the renewal and a reduction of the penalty clause
to a symbolic sum of 10 thousand euros.
On Wednesday, Barcelona expressed its regret that “El Mundo boasts of having
access to a huge amount of documents and emails in the possession of the Persagate
scandal investigation, while this information and these documents have not yet
shared with the parties.”
The “Persagate” scandal, revealed by Radio Cadena Ser in 2020, relates to the club’s
involvement in contracting a public relations company to carry out a defamation
campaign on social networks against Bartomeu’s opponents and personalities such
as Messi, Pique, former coach Pep Guardiola and the current Xavi Hernandez.
Barcelona confirmed that the published documents “have nothing to do with
the investigation of the case and their use harms the reputation and confidentiality of the club.”
Barcelona concluded its statement by saying: “For this reason, and with the aim
of protecting the rights of FC Barcelona, the legal interests of the club are already
studying the appropriate measures to be taken.”
