Sources from Barcelona indicated that the players
of the Catalan giant did not agree to implement the
administration’s desire to reduce their salaries
during the pause period after the club’s facilities
were closed and all sports activities were
temporarily suspended due to the Corona virus
crisis.
The “LaLiga” champion and leader of the current
season has decided to reduce the wages of his
players in light of the current crisis caused by the
outbreak of the Corona virus, and stopped sports
activity.
According to the newspaper “S”, Barcelona
President Josep Bartomeo has tried to persuade the
players to accept the new proposal that the rate of
salary cuts will be 50 percent and that the
proportion of 70 percent will not be applied to
them as will happen with other sports teams such as
basketball.
Here it should be noted that, under the system of
“records of temporary work organization” in
Spain, all club teams in the Spanish League can
lose 70 per cent of their salaries during the
cessation of sports activity during the emergency.
While the Barcelona players rejected the proposal,
the club decided to exercise its legal right under the
state of emergency to apply the “temporary work
organization records” system even without the
players ’approval – which the club management
considers necessary to mitigate the financial
impact of the Corona virus crisis.
