After Barcelona’s offer, Bernardo Silva determines his fate with Manchester City
Bernardo Silva, the Manchester City star, hinted that he will stay with
the English Premier League champions, ignoring the offer made by Barcelona
to join him this summer.
Silva said in statements to his club’s website, on Sunday, after the 3-3 draw
against Newcastle in the third stage of the English Premier League, that he was
“happy” with Manchester City.
The Portuguese winger played an important role in turning his team’s 1-3 delay
into a draw, scoring the third goal for Manchester City after making the first for
his colleague Ilkay Gundogan.
“I’m happy here, doing my best to help the club. I’m very focused here,”
said Silva, 28, after the match, apparently in response to reports linking him
to a move to the “Camp Nou”.
And British media had indicated that Manchester City had already begun
negotiations with the player’s representatives, with the aim of extending his
contract and keeping him at the “Etihad” stadium until 2027 instead of 2025.
According to reports, the negotiations include an offer from the club to double
Silva’s salary, which currently stands at 150,000 pounds per week, to 300,000.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola confirmed earlier this month that
the club had no intention of selling Silva.
