In light of the mystery surrounding the fate of the
English Premier League, the newspaper “Sunday
Telegraph” reported that the competition will likely
resume early next June, and be completed in 6 weeks
before the rest period and the start of the next season in
August.
The newspaper said, on Sunday, that this initial plan
represents “the best scenario” to reduce the losses of
clubs that continue to pay the salaries of players, despite
the stoppage of activity due to the spread of the Corona
virus.
The major football competitions in England stopped on
March 13, the most important of which is the Premier
League, until April 4, before the suspension is extended
until April 30.
But a one-year delay in the European 2020
Championship opened the way for longer-running
domestic competitions, provided the health status
improved.
But player contracts, some of which expire at the end of
June, may be a problem, although FIFA has said it is
considering possible “exemptions”.
The British newspaper confirmed that, according to the
current plan, the Premier League and FA Cup will be
resumed without the presence of fans.
She added that the 2020-2021 season is supposed to start
on August 8.
The leaders of Liverpool hope the season will not be
canceled, as the red team is only two games away from
crowning the 30-year-old title.
