Blizzard celebrates the strong sales of the Shadowlands expansion for World of Warcraft that sold
more than 3.7 million copies during launch day, an impressive performance that makes it the best-selling
PC game in industry history when it comes to first-day sales.
The previous record holder is Diablo III, which sold 3.5 million copies on the day of launch. The months
leading up to the release of the expansion saw the largest number of subscribers to the game compared
to the period before any other expansion, and the number of hours players spent in that period was twice
