“Reliable” media sources revealed that Liverpool, which is very close to winning the Premier League title, is continuing its strong efforts to include German Leipzig striker Timo Werner in a deal estimated at 60 million euros.
For the past three years, Werner, 23, has been one of the strikers who have attracted the attention of Liverpool, with reports that European Champions Scouts have been following him since 2017.
Werner has emerged as one of the most promising talents in German football, and throughout the current season, the “Mancheft” team scored 25 goals and made 10, during 30 games with Leipzig in all competitions.
The German newspaper “Bild” said that the German technical director of the Liverpool Juergen Klopp is interested in including his countryman next summer, as he had described Werner as the “ideal extension” of the current offensive line, and the newspaper pointed out that the deal could reach up to 60 million euros.
And “Bild” had confirmed earlier that Werner rejected an offer from Liverpool last summer, as “he has no place in the club’s starting lineup”, in the presence of the trio Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
However, Mani and Salah’s absence period expected next winter to participate in the African Nations Cup with the teams of Senegal and Egypt may open the door for the young player to prove his capabilities in the event he already moved to the “reds”, in addition to the fact that the club appears to be on the way to dispense with Sheridan Shakeri.
