Amid the strict measures the world is witnessing to tackle the new Coronavirus that appeared in China, Manchester United will lose its new player Odeon Igalo in his current training camp. Igalo, who joined the “Red Devils” loaned until the end of the season from Shanghai Shenhua, will miss the training camp for his new team in Spain, fearing that he could not enter the British territories upon his return if the authorities tightened immigration procedures due to the spread of the deadly virus. The virus has killed more than 700 people in China since it appeared in Wuhan, in the central province of Hubei, at the end of last year. The virus also closed Chinese cities and entered thousands of quarantines in several countries around the world.
“The Odeon will stay in Manchester because he came from China during the last 14 days,” the club’s official website quoted his coach Olli Gunnar Solshire as saying.
He continued: “Because of the situation in China, we are not sure that they will be allowed to return if he leaves the country again, so he will stay and work with his personal trainer. There are risks from tighter measures at the border and we do not want to take risks.”United will travel to Spain on Saturday to prepare for his next Premier League match, against Chelsea on February 17.
Midfielder Scott Maktuminae (injured in the knee) and defender Axel Toanzepe (injured in the thigh) will join the team, while they continue to recover from injury.
The absence of Paul Pogba, the owner of the biggest transfer deal in club history, continues due to ankle surgery, as does striker Marcus Rashford, who has a back problem.
