Leicester striker Jimmy Vardi has refused to rule out the
possibility of returning to the England national soccer
squad at the Europe 2020 championship with the injury
of the main duo Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford.
The 33-year-old Englishman has said he has not yet
discussed the matter with English national football
coach Gareth Southgate.
Jimmy Vardi, who retired from international football
with his country after the 2018 World Cup, is top scorer
in the English Premier League with 19 goals, after
scoring two goals in the match in which his team beat
Aston Villa on Monday evening, 4 goals without charge.
In light of the continued recovery of Tottenham Hotspur
forward, Harry Kane, from back thigh muscle surgery,
which he underwent last January, and the absence of
Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford, due to a
back injury, some nominated Fardi to participate in the
European Championship to be held in June and July The
next two.
“Who knows? Gareth and I agreed to leave the door open
for any reason that happens, and then we’ll sit together
and discuss it (if there is a need),” noted Leicester, who
scored 7 goals in 26 appearances for England, in an
interview with Sky Sports. According to what Reuters
reported.
“There has been no discussion or anything like that (yet).
Colleagues Kane and Rashford are absent due to injury,
but they are on their way back to the squad at the right
time. Only then will the matter be resolved,
” Vardi added.
Gareth Southgate confirmed last week that Harry Kane,
who had returned to training on Monday, and Marcus
Rashford were on the road to recovery, but he also had
not ruled out including Fardi.
Nevertheless, Fardi admitted that the absence from the
England squad helped him, and said, “I will not lie. I
have more days off during the international downtime,
so I can completely move away from football and this is
in my interest.”
