FIFA announced the true reason for choosing the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah to crown him the award for the best player in the Club World Cup, after crowning him in the tournament, on Saturday evening.
Mohamed Salah was crowned the best club player in the FIFA Club World Cup despite not scoring goals, after his team Liverpool beat the Brazilian counterpart Flamengo 1-0 by Roberto Firmino, beside winning the Adidas Golden Ball.
Viva revealed in its official statement on its website the real reason behind Salah’s award, saying: “After Liverpool won the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019, our technical studies group chose Mohamed Salah as the best player in the tournament, given his outstanding performance throughout the competition, where the Liverpool star was the winner deserving the Adidas Golden Ball Award and the Best Player award in the Tournament by the sponsoring company, Ali BaBa.
“Mohamed Salah’s performance in Qatar was impressive from start to finish. In his team’s first match against Monterrey of Mexico, he made the first goal that Nabi Keita scored, as he proved that he does not only scored goals, but also help his teammates to shake the net.”
And the FIFA statement continued: “The Egyptian star’s speed was a constant threat to competitors.”
He concluded: “Although he did not score goals in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar 2019, he deservedly deserved the Adidas Golden Ball Award due to his brilliance, which was proven by thousands of fans at Khalifa International Stadium where they were chanting for him whenever he touched the ball.”
