Mainz announced that its striker Tayo Onye suffered
a concussion during the 0-1 defeat against Augsburg and
was taken to hospital.
The 22-year-old striker, loaned from Liverpool, clashed with
Augsburg defender Felix Udukai, and left the stadium with
a stretcher.
Mainz said in his Twitter account: “Our attacker Tayo Onye
has suffered a concussion. He will spend the night in hospital
as a precaution.”
Onyi, who has scored one goal in 12 games for Mainz this
season, has never played for Liverpool, and has previously
moved on loan to Frankfurt, Nijmegen, Excelsior Moskron
and Gent.
Mainz is 15th in the German league, 3 points behind
the relegation zone, 3 stages before the end of the season.
