French Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema passed a superb
soccer ball to Casemiro to score and lead his team to a 1-0
victory over Espanyol outside home on Sunday.
Real Madrid took advantage of its rivals Barcelona, the previous
day, to widen the difference to two points in the top of the
Spanish League after 23 rounds.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro slipped to put the ball into the net
at the end of the first half, after a brilliant glimpse of Benzema,
who technically passed the ball from the feet of the defender
watching him, to his teammate.
Real Madrid maintained their supremacy to achieve their fifth
consecutive victory, and advanced two points in the title race
against Barcelona, which was content with a 2-2 draw with
Celta Vigo, on Saturday.
Achieving the League title appears to be a top priority for
the “Royal Team” this season after its absence from the podium
since the 2016-2017 season.
Espanyol, who was playing its first match led by interim coach
Francisco Rovetti, the fourth coach of the team in his troubled
season, remained in last place with 24 points, 10 points behind
the safety zone.
