Many GPS users suffer from “lack of accuracy” problems in cities, especially overcrowded ones.
The website “Ars Technica”, which specializes in technology news, said that Google realizes that
obtaining a specific location for a person is not always accurate, thanks to location tracking errors.
And she continued, “But it is supposed to become accurate location tracking across many Android phones,
starting next year.”
Google revealed the steps it has taken to improve tracking accuracy in urban areas, as it introduced
the second version of GPS corrections to Google Maps, with the help of 3D maps for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G,
which feature greatly improved resolution compared to what is currently available.
“Our solution uses corrections with the help of 3D mapping, and it can be implemented on a large scale
because it includes 3D building models, GPS initial measurements, and machine learning,” she said.
The tech giant plans to bring the second version of the GPS patches on Google Maps with the help of 3D
maps to all devices running Android 8 or later in 2021.
