Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has announced that the
team player infected with the new Coronavirus, Calum
Hodson Udoy, is “recovering wonderfully”, after
becoming the first Premier League player to get sick.
Last week, the result of the 19-year-old’s HIV testing was
positive, as Chelsea closed the training center with all
first team and coaches calling for self-isolation as a
precaution.
Lampard told the club’s website: “I am happy to say that
, regarding Calum’s condition, he has recovered
remarkably well, and almost feels normal, which we all
certainly want to hear.”
“I fully realize that not everyone will be able to recover
from this virus, so I ask the football and sports
community to continue to act responsibly and think
about the health of others,” added the former captain.
Chelsea announced that it had reopened its training
center for those who had not had close contact with
Hudson Audoy recently.
The Premier League was suspended until April 4 due to
the rapid spread of the virus, which has stopped most
sporting events in the world.
The flu-like virus has infected more than 190,000 people
worldwide, while more than 7,500 have been killed.
Lampard added: “We still do not know when the official
football competitions will return, but there is no reason to
worry too much about that now.”
He continued: “We all miss football, but at the present
time the most important thing is to act responsibly and
in the interest of society.”
