Spanish club manager Pep Guardiola expressed his
disappointment after losing 2-0 at Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-
final, which was held at Wembley Stadium in London.
Although Manchester City seized the ball dramatically over
the two halves of the match, Arsenal managed to surprise
the Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson on two occasions through
Gabon Pierre Emeric Aubameyang, who took advantage of
the few opportunities presented to his team to rock the
“Citizens” window.
Guardiola spoke in press statements after the match to
the British media, where he confirmed that his team did not play
perfectly, and did not provide the expected performance in such
a match.
He said: “We did not perform well, and we were not prepared
enough. If you do not play well in the semi-finals 90 minutes,
this may happen. We are human, and the opponent played well,
and this happens.”
“The only mistake was that we did not play in the first half as
we did in the second half, we had to change our style, but we
were not able to do that.”
Guardiola continued: “We did not play well, on the day we
should have done this, but we did not, and we did not play
our way in the first half.”
He continued: “We started incorrectly, which we should not
play, we are always ready for matches, but today we were not.”
Guardiola concluded his speech by saying: “We now have two
weeks in order to prepare for another final, in the Champions
League, we want to regain our form, this is the last opportunity
that we must seize in order to win a championship.”
It is noteworthy that Manchester City is preparing to face
Real Madrid at the “Etihad” stadium in the second leg of
the sixteen European Champions League matches.
Man City needs to tie or lose a goal without a response, in order
to qualify to the quarter-finals, after the coach Pep Guardiola
team won the away goal at the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium
1-2.
