The Spanish coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, stressed
the importance of his player, Sergio Aguero, to the team, but
said that he would not be in a hurry to involve the Argentine player.
In a press statement, Guardiola said: “I will not say that we do
not need Aguero, we need him, but Sergio is 32 years old and
missed five months due to a difficult and serious injury.
He came back and participated in 50 or 55 minutes and was
injured again.”
“I want him to be fit because I know what he did before in the
Premier League and it is important to us. But we must be careful and
make sure that he does not get injured when he returns to play,” he added.
He continued, saying, “We must wait for the right time to involve him.
I hope he can return and maintain continuity in playing matches,”
according to “Reuters”.
Aguero injured his hamstring in City’s 1-1 draw with West Ham
United last month, and just a week after playing his first starting
line-up game of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
Aguero was content to sit on the bench during City’s 2-0 loss to
Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday to place the team in 13th.
City scored only ten goals in eight league matches, which is 17 goals
less than they scored at the same stage of last season.
It is worth noting that City is preparing to meet Greek Olympiakos
in the Champions League next Wednesday.
