Guardiola reveals De Bruyne’s absence

Guardiola reveals De Bruyne’s absence

Manchester City coach Giuseppe Guardiola revealed, on Friday, that the injury will keep Belgian

midfielder Kevin De Bruyne out of action for up to six weeks.

De Bruyne suffered a muscle injury nearly an hour after City’s victory over Aston Villa in the middle of

the week in the Premiership competitions, and it became clear from the tests that the player underwent

that he might need six weeks to recover.

De Bruyne will miss important dates for City next month against defending champion Liverpool and

Tottenham, with his first match away from the team on Saturday in the fourth round of the Cup competition

against Cheltenham Town in the third division.

Guardiola, whose team ranks second in the league, two points behind his neighbor Man United, with a postponed

match up his sleeve, on the eve of the cup match, said: “Doctors said they would review the x-ray examination

today (Friday), and this is what they did, and thus the result was that it (the absence period) will be between

Four and six weeks. ”

He stressed, “We have to move forward. I do not reveal anything that no one knows about his importance to us,

but unfortunately for him and for us he will miss an important part of the season. We have to find solutions

because everyone is suffering and we have to cope.”

Guardiola also misses defender Kyle Walker in the match on Saturday as a result of his injury in the same

match against Aston Villa, but the Spanish coach seemed more optimistic about him, saying, “It was just a kick.

He will not be available tomorrow, but maybe next week (he will be with the team).”

City will also miss Argentine striker Sergio Aguero, due to his infection with the emerging coronavirus.

“What we wish for him is a recovery. He was upset in the two or three days that followed his positive result.

He was very tired and had symptoms. But he has improved now and we want him to come back. We have missed

our best goalscorer for a long time (due to injuries),” Guardiola said. As is the case with Kevin (De Bruyne),

we have to manage until they return. “
