Third-placed Inter Milan resumed their career in Serie A,
Calcio, with a 2–1 victory over struggling Sampdoria, on
Sunday, to narrow the gap with the two-man lead despite
being exposed to dangerous situations in the second half.
Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez gave the lead to
Inter 2-0 after about half an hour, but Sampdoria, who
was completely outpaced by Inter in the first half,
reduced the difference by Morten Thorsby at the start of
the second half and ended the game pressing for a draw.
And the Belgian Lukaku celebrated his goal by sitting on
his knee in support of the movement (Black Lives
Mater) or (the life of blacks is important).
Inter, who have 57 points from 26 games, are five points
behind Lazio and 6 points behind leaders Juventus, while
Sampdoria, led by coach Claudio Ranieri, is 16th with
26 points, one ahead of the relegation zone.
The match was to be played on February 23 and was one
of the first canceled matches with the beginning of
the outbreak of the new Corona virus in Italy, and
the league eventually stopped on the ninth of March.
“It would have been possible to resolve things early if we
had succeeded in making better use of the opportunities,
but on the contrary we received the goal from the first
attempt of Sampdoria and we felt nervous. But despite
that we did a strong performance,” said Inter Contra
coach Antonio Conte.
Inter advanced with an early goal after 10 minutes, after
Martinez passed the ball to Lukaku, who exchanged
the ball with Christian Eriksen, then hit the goalkeeper
Emile Odiro’s goal.
Inter dominated the meeting completely, and Sampdoria
was almost never allowed to leave the midfield and
added the second goal after a wonderful technical
sentence.
Lukaku passed the ball between two defenders to
Antonio Candriva, who sent a cross pass that Martinez
met shortly, to finish the Argentine striker a series of
6 consecutive games in all competitions without scoring
any goal.
But Thorsby’s goal 7 minutes into the second half
completely turned things around, as Inter struggled
and Nikola Moro hit a dangerous long-range shot,
as Inter keeper Samir Handanovich saved an attempt
by substitute Mehdi Liris.
