In light of the outbreak of the Corona virus, which has
taken place in Italy, Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora
has called on the local football federation to take a
decision to suspend local football competitions.
The disease has killed more than two hundred people in
Italy, and imposed mandatory isolation in large areas in
the north of the country.
“It is illogical, while we ask people to make massive
sacrifices to curb the spread of the virus, threatening the
lives of players, referees, members of the technical staff
and fans who will inevitably meet to attend the matches,
and not suspend football matches,” Spadafora wrote on
his Facebook page on Sunday. Temporarily. ”
The authorities had decided earlier, to hold the Serie A
matches without a public presence.
On Sunday, Italy imposed a physical closure of sectors in
the north of the country, including the financial capital
Milan, in a new attempt to contain the spread of the
disease.
Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte signed last night the
decisions to tighten the unprecedented restrictions, to
become a law affecting approximately 16 million people,
and will continue to be implemented until the third of
April.
The new strict measures include orders not to enter or
leave the Lombardy region, the wealthiest Italian region,
as well as 14 provinces in 4 other regions, including the
cities of Venice, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio
Emilia and Rimini.
Conte said that no one will be permitted to move to or
from these areas or within them, except for proven
reasons related to work, emergency or health reasons.
