Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp said on Monday that Liverpool’s
first league title in 30 years should be celebrated “in a safe and
private manner”.
Fans celebrated outside Anfield on Thursday evening and
gathered on the waterfront the following evening to celebrate
the Premier League, despite the constant threat posed by
the Corona Virus pandemic.
“When the time is right, we will celebrate,” Klopp told fans
in a message published by the Liverpool Echo newspaper.
“But for the time being, please stay at home as much as
possible. This is not the time to be in the city center in large
numbers or approaching soccer fields,” he added.
Liverpool won the title with a two-goal Chelsea victory over
second-placed Manchester City on Thursday.
