German international star Toni Kroos has backtracked on
his statement regarding his club Real Madrid’s decision
to cut player salaries due to the emerging Coronavirus
crisis.
Real Madrid players and members of the technical staff
have agreed to reduce their salaries by 10-20 percent this
year, to help the clubface the repercussions of stopping
football activity because of “COVID 19”.
Cross was quickly annoyed by the decision, saying in
an interview with the German channel “SWR”:
“Reducing the salary is like donating in vain or for the
sake of the club. I support paying the full salary.”
“Everyone asked to help when necessary, and there are
many places that need help,” he added.
However, the German midfielder retracted his statement,
and explained what meant by his speech in a tweet
on his official account, “Twitter”.
He said: “It is possible that my words not translated
correctly, or that some people do not want to understand
them.”
“From the very first moment, my opinion about the
matter, you know it well, and it is as follows: If we can
help the workers and employees of the club, it makes
sense to give up part of our salary. This proved
today,” Kroes added.
