Paris Saint-Germain scored two late goals, one in stoppage time
for substitute Eric Choubou-Moting, to win a 2-1 victory over
Atlanta in surprise tournament and put an end to his dream in
the Champions League quarter-finals.
Atalanta, in its first participation in the Champions League,
advanced through Croatian Mario Pasalic when he sent a great
shot that settled in the net of the French team in the 27th minute,
to hold together until the last minute when Brazilian defender
Marquinhos equalized for the French champion.
With the Atlanta players retreating due to exhaustion, Chubu-
Moting put the ball into the net in the third minute of stoppage
time, ending the embarrassing career of the past years for Paris
Saint-Germain, who always left the tournament from the
quarter-finals or the last sixteen, reaching the semi-finals for
the first time since 1995. .
The French team will meet the winner of the Atletico Madrid
match and Rasenpal Sport Leipzig in the semi-final on Thursday.
Neymar dominated the first half and missed four good chances.
Despite not having the purchasing power of Paris Saint-
Germain, Atlanta was more than a match on the field for the
French club and advanced when an exchange resulted in the ball
reaching Pasalic, who met it directly against goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
Atlanta, which represented a rare case outside of the major clubs
in Europe by reaching the quarter-finals, is located in Bergamo,
which was the epicenter of the Corona virus pandemic in
Italy earlier this year.
