The relegation-threatened Lecce match against Lazio, the rival
for the Italian title Calcio, witnessed an exciting incident near its
end that brought to mind the famous scene of Luis Suárez in
the World Cup 2014.
Lazio’s hopes of competing for the league title dealt
a knockout when he lost 1-2 to host Lecce, and the team’s
frustration increased when defender Patrice bounced one of
his opponents to send off at the end, Tuesday.
Felipe Caicedo Lazio took the lead five minutes into the game
after a fatal mistake by Lecce goalkeeper Gabriel shortly after
he canceled a goal for Marco Mancuso to touch the ball to
the hand.
Two goals from a header through Khoma Babiker and Fabio
Lucione gave the win to Lecce to take second-placed Lazio by
seven points from leaders Juventus, who will play later in
the day on Milan.
And between the two goals, Mankuso missed a penalty for
the hosts.
The match ended after a 10-minute count, overtime.
Patrice sent off after the TV replay showed that the Spanish
player bitten the arm of Giulio Donati in a strange scene
reminiscent of the Uruguayan incident, Luis Suárez, against
Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini in the 2014 World Cup.
