Liverpool begin their Premier League title defense on
September 12 at Anfield against newcomer Leeds United,
returning to the competition for the first time in 16 years.
Manchester City and Manchester United will not participate in
the competition until 19 September until the two teams have a
30-day rest after the end of their European participation.
City was expected to start the season against Aston Villa and
United against Burnley, but the matches will be postponed.
United play their first game of the new season at home against
Crystal Palace on September 19, according to the schedule
published by the League League today, Thursday, while City
will visit Wolverhampton Wanderers on the same day.
Mikel Arteta kicks off his first full season as Arsenal coach by
playing at newcomer Fulham, while North London rivals
Tottenham Hotspur host Everton in the opening round’s highlights.
Chelsea and Wolverhampton will play their first game of the
new season on September 14 against Brighton & Hove Albion
and Sheffield United, respectively.
Liverpool, the team of coach Jürgen Klopp, will visit Chelsea
in its second match before Arsenal hosts the FA Cup champions
in the next round.
