Liverpool star: The fans are right to attack us
Andy Robertson, the England captain and captain of the Scotland national team, said that his country’s
fans were right to express their frustration by booing after the 3-0 loss to Ireland in the European Nations
League, on Saturday.
Troy Parrott, Michael Obafemi and Alan Brown scored in Ireland’s victory against “Tuskless” Scotland,
the first victory for Stephen Kenny’s team in the competition.
The defeat comes days after Scotland lost its hopes of reaching the World Cup, after losing 1-3 to Ukraine
in the playoffs.
“We haven’t been good enough. We’ve said it twice in 10 days,” Robertson told Premier Sports.
He added: “The fans behind the goal booed us and they were absolutely right. This performance did not
fit the Scotland shirt at all. We have to press the reset button because last year everything was going well,
2 this year it has not been so good. So far, we need to regain stability.”
Ireland advanced to second place in Group A at the second level, while Scotland, which has 3 points like her,
fell to third place.
Ukraine, who beat Armenia 3-0 in another match, remains at the top of the group, and Scotland will visit
Armenia on Tuesday.
