Liverpool is very close to a 30-year-old dream of crowning
the Premier League, absent since 1990, with a 4-0 victory over
Crystal Palace in Anfield, Wednesday, only two points away
from the coronation.
Coach Jurgen Klopp’s team could crown the title tomorrow,
Thursday, if second-placed Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea
in a match that will not be easy for the title holder in the past
two years.
But if coach Pep Guardiola’s team wins at Stamford Bridge,
this means that Liverpool can guarantee the coronation when
they play the next match against City itself on July 2.
Trent Alexander-Arnold made a first goal for Liverpool after a
brilliant free kick in the 23rd minute, to give Palace a new blow
after his star Wilfred Zaha had injured a few minutes earlier.
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah added the second goal one minute
before the break, after he received a pass from Fabienho and
paved the ball with his chest, then hit it hard.
The result became 3-0 after a massive shot by Brazilian
Fabienho, before Salah passed the ball to teammate Sadio Mane
who scored the goal after repeated cooperation between
the attacking trio as Roberto Firmino started the attack.
Liverpool has 86 points from 31 games, 23 points more than
its nearest competitors, Manchester City.
