It seems that Manchester United is still insisting on contracting
Argentine star Lionel Messi, who had previously decided to
continue with his Spanish team Barcelona.
Media reports stated that the “Man City” management will try
again to sign Messi after his contract with the Catalan team
expires, that is, next summer.
Omar Berrada, Manchester City’s chief of operations, said the
club had the “economic capacity” to strike a big deal with a star
the size of Lionel Messi.
And the British “Sky News” website quoted Berada as saying
that Messi “is the best player in the world, he is the best player
of his generation. I think any team in the world would like to
explore the possibility of joining his team.”
He continued, “It might be an exception for the potential
investments that we will make … We have to be prepared,
because there can be a lot of things that can happen.”
“But at the same time, I think we have the financial strength and
the economic capacity to make this investment when needed,” he added.
It is noteworthy that Messi’s relationship with Barca officials
has been strained in recent months, as the matter came to a
request to leave the Camp Nou castle.
