Legend Lionel Messi, Barcelona and Argentina star,
revealed why he could not look face to face with the
French star Thierry Henry.
Messi appeared to the audience again, on a modest side
in his character, this time when narrating the story of his
first meeting with French star Thierry Henry.
Messi revealed that he could not look at Henry’s face in
the dressing room, when he moved to Barcelona in
2007, due to the overwhelming stardom of the French
scorer.
Messi said to the French newspaper “L’Equipe”: “The
first day that Henry entered the changing room, I did not
dare look at himself.”
He added: “I was aware of all his accomplishments in
England, it was a symbol for me and suddenly we
became colleagues in the same team.”
Henry moved to Barcelona in 2007, after 8 seasons with
Arsenal, in which he made many achievements,
including the top scorer and the Premier League title
several times.
Henry contributed to the Barcelona Champions League
achievement in 2009, when he played next to Messi and
Cameroon Samuel Eto’o in the offensive line.
Messi praised the retired French star: “I loved Henry
very much. His way of finishing the attack smoothly.
He gave me the impression that he was natural and
smooth in everything, in his career as a player and as
a way to dodge him.”
