Milan scored a goal in each half to win 10 men, 2-0 at host Benevento and regain the top of the Italian Serie A
on Sunday.
Neighbor Inter Milan had crushed their hosts Crotone 6-2 to reach the summit, earlier in the day, but Milan
advanced early with a penalty kick through Frank Kissevi in the 15th minute.
Milan’s mission made it more difficult to dismiss Sandro Tonale in the 33rd minute, after the video assistant
referee intervened.
The referee declared the midfielder a yellow card after a serious obstruction, but he reversed his decision to
send Tonali after watching the game on a screen outside the stadium.
Raphael Leao made it 2-0 four minutes into the second half and Benevento missed a penalty.
Milan maintained its unbeaten record, raising its tally to 37 points from 15 games, one point ahead of Inter,
while Benevento remained in tenth place.
