Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has refused to discuss
the importance of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo in Real.
In an interview with the Croatian newspaper “Sportsky
Novosti”, Modric said that “not necessary to discuss how
important Ronaldo was to Real Madrid.”
He added: “But I must say that we not drowned because it
did not exist, and that we did not have the same ambitions.”
The 34-year-old explained: “We convinced that we would
continue to win victories without Ronaldo.”
In the summer of 2018, the “Don”, the best player in the world
five times, moved to Juventus.
The Croatian international also spoke of his coach Zinedine
Zidane, saying, “Zidane has proven again that he is a wonderful
person … working to reassure the players and is good at dealing
with them.”
“There are always people who do not play and do not participate
in matches … they are not happy and this makes sense,
but Zidane’s approach helps everyone feel that they are part
of the team,” he added.
