Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho revealed the moment he learned that Liverpool will be the Premier League champion this season.
Liverpool topped the Premier League standings, 22 points behind its chasing Manchester City, with 13 games remaining at the end of the season, which means that it is close to achieving the club’s 30-year-old title.
After defeating Manchester City on Sunday 2-0, Tottenham coach Mourinho said he knew Liverpool would win the league title last November, according to Metro.
“I felt that Liverpool would win the title in early November when I was an analyst with Sky,” Mourinho said in a press interview after his victory over Manchester City.
He added: “I know very well that it is very difficult to win the title for the third time in a row for Manchester City. It is very difficult.”
Mourinho noted that Manchester City is still a great team with great players and coaches, despite their distance from the top of the league.
The controversial Portuguese coach called Liverpool “the best team in the world now”, when he expressed his admiration for the team that won the Champions League and Club World Cup last month.
Mourinho said: “The results of Liverpool are the result of great work, step by step, stage after stage, I think that in the first season of the team under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp they finish in the ranking in sixth place, or eight, or something like that, and after 4 years are not world champions. Just, I think they are the best team in the world, at the moment. “
