Tottenham Hotspur coach Jose Mourinho said that Carlos
Vinicius could play alongside Harry Kane in the team’s attack
instead of being just a substitute for the England striker after the
Brazilian player scored two goals in a 3-0 victory over Austrian
Lask in the European League, Thursday.
Vinicius, who made his debut for Tottenham since joining from
Benfica for a season on loan missed a chance with a close-range
header in the first 10 minutes before conceding twice for Lucas
Moura and Son Heung-min.
Mourinho indicated that the 25-year-old is still adapting to life
in England and that Tottenham has not seen the best of him yet.
Mourinho told reporters, “He performed well but could do the
best. But unfortunately, he still did not do that. It is not easy to
speak English, so his adaptation to the team is not easy despite
there are great people trying to make things easier for him.”
He continued: “But we can see that he has more. He is not
selfish and a good striker, he can play alongside Harry Kane
when he reaches his best period and not be just a substitute for him.”
Kane sat on the bench in the Spurs victory, which gave him the
top of Group 10 before the team visited Burnley in the Premier
League on Monday.
