Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso considered Lionel Messi
to be the greatest soccer player in history and
that’s to say, more important than fellow South Italian legend
DiegoMaradona.
Gattuso praised the 32-year-old Barcelona captain,
saying, “He is the greatest and role model. He never
uttered anything abusive. He does things that are only
present in (PlayStation +), which are unimaginable.”
In comparing the best player in the world six times to his
compatriot Maradona, who is a legend in Naples,
Argentina and the world, Gattuso said, “I saw it on video
or CD. I did not watch it closely, on the field. I know he
was a hero and I know I missed a great thing on myself. I
regret it. ”
“Today I see Messi do things that Maradona did.”
Maradona defended the colors of Napoli from 1984 to
1991 and led him to his last title in the Italian League in
1990 after, he was also crowned with the title in 1987, in
addition to winning the European Union Cup in 1989
and the Italian Cup in 1987 and the Italian Super Cup in
1990.
Unlike Languoso, who received the technical
management of the southern team immediately after
qualifying for the Champions League final to succeed
his former coach in Milan, Carlo Ancelotti, Napoli
captain Lorenzo Inseni refused to put Messi in the ranks
of Maradona, saying that “Messi is the best in the world
at present.”
“But for us the people of Naples, Maradona is everything
and I don’t want to compare them.” “Maradona is
sacred.”
Incini and his coach agreed that the focus should not be
confined to Messi, not only in the match tomorrow in
the European Champions League, but, “we must be
careful with the entire team,” according to what the
former player crowned the continental competition twice
with Milan in 2003 and 2007.
