Nebulas Lasso Today, we got our hands on an entirely Arabic game developed
by Yasser Al-Dosari and STON Games. The game is of the collective genre,
and Yasser started developing it on the Steam platform first, but his real goal
was always to release it on the PlayStation, which he believes is the best place
for such group games. The game was previously released in a limited format,
then it was revised with many additional features, and the PlayStation platform
also arrived, and today we are reviewing it on the PC platform and the Steam store.

Nebulas Lasso
Nebulas Lasso is a multiplayer action game powered by Unreal Engine 4 based
on the sport of… human abduction! Yes, you did not misread, dear reader.
The idea of the game centers on competition between a group of spaceship
navigators to kidnap humans. Let’s talk at the beginning about the gameplay,
the entire game takes place in one screen that witnesses the competition between
two to four players, each of whom controls his own spacecraft that he chooses
from among the eight characters present in the game, each character has different
advantages over the other, some of which are characterized by speed and others
It is distinguish by the strength of the shield, the ease of control, or the power of fire.
There are balanced characters and there are others that have more significant strengths/weaknesses.
The main gameplay skills are based on shooting the opponent’s vehicle to knock
it down and temporarily removing it from the place on the one hand, and on
kidnapping the human by luring him to the ship and then bringing him to
the specified place and extricating him there. Continuous firing will cause
the cannon to overheat and you must wait if that happens until it cools down.
Players can defend their vehicle and repel enemy attacks with another cannon
that shoots a red beam in front of the vehicle. Finally, there is the special strike
that differs from one character to another, and when playing with the character
“Qasim”, for example, this strike is a huge beam shot that heals anger.
The gameplay is fun at its core, the real fun in our opinion is when you play with
4 characters against each other and throw chaos on the screen trying to kidnap
the humans and get rid of the opponents. However we had some issues with
the weight of the play, the counter for special hits fills up very quickly for example
which makes their use a little strategic, and the red protective ray is infinite which
makes the play very defensive at times, and can also counter some Special attacks,
which lose a lot of their value in this case.
Artificial intelligence was the biggest weakness in the game when facing the computer,
when you defend with the red cannon, for example, the artificial intelligence cannot
maneuver you and find solutions, as its behavior seems very primitive, and it is also
not smart when entering into a team competition, as it does not give priority to attacking
the vehicle that kidnapped the human for example. Also, there are not multiple difficulty levels.
The game includes an arcade phase with a very simple but entertaining storyline
despite its shortness, there is the classic phase that allows you to compete and there are
other phases that focus on fighting between players such as the Stock Battle phase in
which the player loses after a specified number of turns and there is the Time Battle
phase that ends at the end of the specified time The player who destroys the opponent’s
vehicle the most times wins. There is also the option to play online which is the main
attraction of the game for those who want to experience it with their friends.
For us, the classic phase was the best, especially since trying to kidnap humans
in the midst of competition with opponents adds a strategic aspect to the game.
Nebulas Lasso includes support for three languages, including Arabic,
which sometimes gave us the impression of a direct translation from English,
which was not quite as good as we had hoped. The graphics of the game are good
and acceptable, and there are no problems with collision points (collision).
The music is also good and acceptable, and it comes in the style of Japanese games.
In our view, the game lacks additional improvements to the quality of life, which
is a problem we face in general with most Arab games, perhaps due to the limited
time or capabilities available, for example, the game allows the player to enter into
group competition and start playing in its various stages until If he was alone and
would find himself without any opponent, such minor lapses should be avoided
and the game should not allow the competition to start if the number of competitors
is less than two.
There is another problem that we complain about with the PC version,
which is that the frame rate in the game is completely unlocked, and therefore
you will find your graphics card working as hard as it can reach with the processor
with hundreds of frames, and this is a great waste of power for the graphics card
by adding an option for the screen refresh rate and matching the frames with
it (VSync) or The game will automatically run at 60fps.
Nebulas Lasso is a game with an attractive and fun idea. It provides real entertainment
for four players and an ambitious attempt that we are proud of from Yasser.
However, there are many aspects to improve and upgrade the experience.
The game goes halfway to globalization and still has the other half to be on par
with the collective masterpieces in the industry. Video games.
