Spanish striker Diego Costa surprised journalists with his
comments about his new partnership in Atletico Madrid’s
offensive line, with Uruguayan Luis Suarez.
After the broad victory for Atletico Madrid, 6-1 against
Granada, in a match in which Costa scored a goal and Suarez
scored twice, the Spanish striker described his colleague Suarez
as a “member”, according to “AS” newspaper.
“We are a very good pair,” Costa say, “one of us kicks and the
other bites,” a sarcastic reference to his roughness in play and
the famous biting incidents of Luis Suarez during his career.
Suarez sparked controversy more than once, because he was
bitten by the opponent’s defenders, the Italian Giorgio Chiellini
and the Serbian Branislav Ivanovic.
Suarez sometimes nicknamed “the bite” because of the two
famous incidents, while Costa known for his toughness and
twisting methods with opponents, including hitting, kicking and acting.
Costa praised the presence of Suarez in his team, saying:
“Suarez will give us a lot with his goals, his fighting spirit in
the changing room and his great desire to achieve victories and titles.”
