The Brazilian star criticized his club Paris Saint Germain for the way
he dealt with his recent injury after he scored his team’s goal during
the loss of his team against Borussia Dortmund, Germany 1-2 in the
first leg of the Champions League final.
Neymar missed 4 games for the French capital team for a rib injury
before facing Dortmund and was therefore not in full fitness when
facing the German team.
Norwegian striker Erling Prutt Halland scored Dortmund’s goals,
raising his lead in the top scorers’ ranking to 10, with Bayern
Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.
But Neymar gave Saint-Germain hope by scoring his team’s goal
before the return match scheduled at the Parc des Princes in Paris
on March 11.
After the match, Neymar criticized his club for not giving him the
opportunity to play more games before the Dortmund meeting and
said in this regard to Monte Carlo Radio: “It is difficult not to play 4
games in succession. Unfortunately, it was not my decision, it was
the club’s choice, the doctors, and I didn’t like it.”
He continued: “We talked about this long because I wanted to play, I
was in good shape, but the club was apprehensive and in the end, I
suffered.”
He explained: “It was a difficult game, but we have to do our duty in
the return match. Playing on our land is the best thing in the world.
We have 90 minutes to achieve something.”
Neymar missed the final price last season when his team came out
at the hands of Manchester United, despite winning 2-0 in the first
leg at Old Trafford, before losing forth in 1-3 in Paris.
He also missed the return leg of the final two seasons ago against
Real Madrid.
Saint Germain has failed to outpace the final price in the past three
years, knowing that the continental competition has been a top
priority for the club since 2011.
