Brazilian star Neymar shed tears after his team, Paris Saint-Germain,
lost 0-1 to Bayern Munich, in the Champions League final, Sunday.
The lenses monitored Neymar entering into a fit of crying,
mourning the loss of the dream of achieving the first European
title with the Parisian team.
Amid the sympathy of many of the players of the two teams for
the most expensive player in the world, Thomas Tuchel,
the losing coach, made statements about Neymar, the team
and the loss, bearing several connotations.
The German coach revealed that you should not always rely on
Neymar and his French colleague Kylian Mbappe to score goals.
Saint-Germain paid 222 million euros for Neymar in the
summer of 2017, and he is still the most expensive player in the
world since then, while Mbappe moved from Monaco in the
same summer for another whopping 180 million euros.
Speaking after the end of the match, Tochel avoided criticizing
the talented duo, despite the two wasting the Parisian team’s
most prominent chances in the first half of the match.
Neymar was alone with Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who
was able to block the Brazilian star’s shot, while Mbappe
missed a great opportunity when he was left alone in the penalty
area, and shot a powerful ball that did not hit the net.
Tuchel told “RMC Sport”: We lacked the competence … We
want Kylian and Neymar to score all the time. I’m proud that
Ney (Neymar) played another great game. Show his abilities and
mindset. As for Kiki (Kylian Mbappe), it’s difficult, it was a
miracle that he was with us (after the injury). The little details
made all the difference. ”
On the other hand, Tuchel was happy with what his team had
done against a competitor who had won all 11 of their
Champions League matches this season.
“It was a real battle,” Tuchel said, “We did everything we
could,” but added with a sigh, “We could not control the result
… I am disappointed, but not much disappointed … (I was
convinced) that if we scored first … We’ll win 1-0. ”
