In a statement that the Spanish newspaper “Marca” described as
“throwing a bomb”, the Brazilian star Neymar confirmed that his
biggest ambition now is to play with Lionel Messi again.
The talented duo joined Barcelona for 4 years, before Neymar
decided to leave for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
Although Neymar, 28, did not explicitly specify the name of
the team he wants to play alongside Messi, he did not previously
hide his desire to return to Barcelona, knowing that Messi, on
the other hand, pressed hard last summer to leave Barcelona to no avail.
“What I want the most to play with [Messi] again is to enjoy being with him
on the field again,” Neymar said, after Paris Saint-Germain’s victory over
Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
“I am ready to give him my position on the field,” he joked.
He added, according to what was reported by the “Marca” website:
“I am sure that he can play for me … he will not face any problems.
I want to play with him again, and I am sure that next season, we will have to do it.”
And before the outbreak of the Coronavirus crisis, press reports
confirmed that the Paris Saint-Germain star is at the top of
Barcelona’s priorities, which seeks to regain his glories at
the continental and local levels.
But the Catalan club’s attempts to obtain Neymar’s services were unsuccessful,
with the French club’s insistence on setting a sum of 300 million euros as a price for its star.
A report by the Spanish newspaper “Sport” revealed that Barcelona studied
plans to offer a number of players to Saint-Germain last summer to obtain
the signature of Neymar, but the deal was not concluded, perhaps due to
the repercussions of the pandemic and its impact on club spending and
players’ prices in Europe.
