Nintendo Switch shipments were greatly affected when
factories in China were closed due to an outbreak of the
Corona virus, the effect appeared on Japan faster than
the rest of the markets, but with the release of the Animal
Crossing game, which certainly pushed the device’s
sales, more markets began to suffer. A Nintendo
spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that
the device is not available in American stores such as
Amazon, Best Buy, Target and GameStop:
The Nintendo Switch is no longer available in many
American stores, but more devices are on the way. We
apologize for this.
Nintendo declined to explain the reason for the current
hardware shortage in the American market.
