Klopp: Our way of playing will help Diaz imitate Salah and replace Mane
Jurgen Klopp has backed Liverpool manager Luis Diaz to become a constant
threat to the Premier League’s goal, saying the team’s style of play would help
the Colombian to emulate Mohamed Salah and replace former striker Sadio Mane.
Diaz blended in quickly since joining Liverpool from Porto last January,
but he has yet to match his scoring record during his time in Portugal.
The 25-year-old came close to finding the net in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against
Fulham as he fired a shot that hit the woodwork.
In response to a question, can Diaz score from 10 to 15 goals per season?
“Of course, he has that quality,” Klopp told reporters. “We need to watch it,
but of course he has great potential.”
“You all saw the chances that Diaz had against Fulham,” Klopp added,
before meeting his guest Crystal Palace on Monday. opportunities and
is trying to exploit them,” according to “Reuters”.
Egypt international Salah and Senegal’s Mane, who joined Bayern Munich
in June, have starred with Liverpool in recent seasons and Klopp said
the club’s style of play was designed specifically to develop attacking talent.
He pointed out, “This is the way we play. It is a way that helps the players
exposed to different offensive situations. It is about the way the players
positioned and recover the ball when it is lost during the game and other things.
That is why we have a lot of opportunities to score.”
