After Napoli drew 1-1 at home to Barcelona in the
Champions League, Gennaro Gattuso, the Italian
team coach, is in the zeal that his team will use
“helmets and shields” to defend himself in
Barcelona.
It seems that Napoli is in trouble before playing the
second leg at “Camp Nou” on March 18, but the
Italian coach, who has a fighting spirit, refused to
surrender after playing the 16th round first leg on
Tuesday.
Asked about Napoli hoping to reach the quarter-
finals for the first time, Gattuso said: “I would like to
answer the question in my own way, but I cannot.”
Reuters definitely quoted Gattuso as saying:
“Certainly things are not over, and we realize there
are difficulties, but we will buy helmets and shields
and we will go and play at Camp Nou.”
Dries Mertens gave Napoli a goal before Antoine
Griezmann tied Barcelona in the second half.
Gattuso took charge of Naples in December, after
working in Milan, and succeeded in achieving an
uprising after a weak start.
“This match gave us the knowledge at least that if
we play together we can offer great levels,” Gattuso
said.
