Snap has added a new feature to its Snapchat application called Spotlight
that will highlight the popular snapshots to encourage users to post their posts
on the app.
According to Buzzfeed News, the company will pay actual money to people whose
posts reach Spotlight, out of a total amount of nearly $ 1 million per day.
Spotlight is a huge change to Snapchat, as it is a way to view high-quality content
by stranger users based on your preferences.
Compared to other platforms, Snapchat was not the ideal platform for influencers
and creatives because it does not contain a discovery engine such as Instagram’s
Explore Page, TikTok’s For You, or recommended videos on YouTube.
The app, which was founded in 2012, has always used user-to-user messaging
as its primary function, regardless of publishing channels and Snap map.
The developer said its goal is to make the Spotlight page a place where
ordinary people, not just celebrities, can access it and even make money.
The algorithm will determine which posts appear on Spotlight based on
the number of likes it has received from friends, along with other items,
to make it appear on top.
Payments will depend on the spread of the shot, so more views mean more money.
But it is not clear how many people will receive the money on a daily basis.
But a Snap spokesperson said the highest payout would be at least $ 250.
These payments are only for those over the age of 16 and in the United States.
Snap will commit to paying at least $ 1 million a day until the end of the year.
The big change comes a week after Twitter and Instagram made two significant
changes to copy the features of other apps. Instagram gave the front and center
buttons in a redesign of the Reels feature, while Twitter added the Fleets feature,
which are stories copied from Instagram that they copied from Snapchat.
