Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué celebrated
the 11th anniversary of his team’s crushing of Real
Madrid in the land of the latter 6-2, as this result
caused a great storm for the royal team and its
fans who came to support the players in that match.
And Pique posted on his account on Twitter a video
in which the player himself records the goal of his
last team and wrote on this clip “11 years”.
Pep Guardiola, former Barcelona coach and current
Manchester City manager, led the “Blaugrana”
to win six goals to two on May 2, 2009.
The Piqué tweet made a huge fuss on social media
and angered Real Madrid fans and its legendary
goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to the Spanish
newspaper AS.
Casillas was only able to republish Piqué’s post and
wrote “11 + 2 = 13” above, referring to the number
of Champions League titles the team has achieved
throughout its history.
The Madrid giants top the list of the most
successful club in the Champions League,
with Casillas taking the lead in three of them.
That victory caused a great storm inside Real
Madrid in 2009, so Pique wanted to take
advantage of the opportunity and commemorate
this great victory.
Barcelona goals were scored by Frenchman Terry
Henry (two goals), Spanish Carles Puyol (1 goal),
Argentine Lionel Messi (two goals) and Pique
ended Barcelona’s goals list in that match.
While Real Madrid scored only two goals came
through Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain,
Juventus player, and current Real Madrid captain
Sergio Ramos.
