Retired Italian star Andrea Pirlo decided to return to his former
club Juventus, but this time as coach of the under-23 team
(reserve), Italian champions announced.
The move is the first for Pirlo, 41, in the coaching world, 3 years
after he retired from football, and represented his return to
the “old lady” 5 years after saying goodbye to the club.
And Pirlo will have a difficult task in his old club, as he is
required to improve the level of the team that finished last
season in the Italian third tier in the tenth place, under
the leadership of coach Fabio Picchia.
Juventus U-23 team reached the promotion course to the second
degree “Serie B”, but he bid it farewell from the quarter-finals.
Pirlo played for Juventus 4 seasons between 2011 and 2015,
during which he helped crown the team 4 times in the domestic
league, the Italian Cup once, and two titles for the local Super Cup.
Then the former international player known for playing
“elegant” moved to the American League to play 3 seasons
with New York City, then decided to retire.
Pirlo began his career with Brescia before moving to Inter
Milan, but he was unable to impose himself on the starting
lineup of the team, so he was seconded to Regina and then
Brescia again.
The turning point in his career was his move to Milan in 2001,
where he spent 10 unforgettable years during which he helped
crown the Red and Black team twice in the Champions League.
At the international level, Pirlo played 116 matches in the Italy
national team, scored 13 goals, and was one of the most
prominent members of the team crowned the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
